06 May Sylvan Shores HOA
Project: Sylvan Shores HOA
Our customer Sylvan Shores Services Company is a private water front community on the Chesapeake Bay in Anne Arundel County Maryland. This challenging project required drainage repairs caused by outfall pipe failure, stormwater runoff and a destabilized embankment along the waterway. Adding to the level of difficulty was the steep 60 degree slope which housed the failed rainwater drainage pipe adjacent to the South River. Our video pipeline inspection camera was deployed to inspect the storm drain offering visuals via WiFi to find the pipe failure point.
Stormwater Facilities’ mission was to implement erosion control measures, mitigate the stormwater runoff damage, find the pipe failure point, repair and stabilize the embankment. Stormwater Facilities cleared and hauled the site of non-native invasive plants, graded the soil, repaired the outfall pipe, backfilled eroded areas and installed a new pipe flared end section. The erosion control measures included extensive landscaping with backfill, topsoil, fertilization and planting 800 Tussock Sedge plugs to stabilize the slope meeting Maryland Department of Environment specifications. Mulch was applied around each plant and along the slope to further stabilize the ground from erosion.
