“Working like Dogs” for Anne Arundel County Police Special Operations and K-9 Unit
Stormwater Facilities is performing expert site development work to benefit a unique client – K-9 dogs! We are excited to be helping the Anne Arundel County Special Operations and K-9 Unit by assisting with an addition to their facilities in Millersville, Maryland.
The work will result in an addition to the canine kennel and indoor training building, as well as relocation of the police impound lot. This Anne Arundel County project – which is contracted by Nastos Construction – was started in June with an anticipated completion date of Spring/Summer 2026.
Our scope of work on the project includes grading and installing a new impound lot, mitigating the existing stormwater management pond, putting in a new storm drainage system, and installing five micro-bioretention ponds.
Our site development crews have run into unavoidable challenges, including failing septic drain fields, extreme heat during the “dog days” of Summer, and segmented installation of the storm drain system.
However, our entire Stormwater Facilities team is diligently working to keep the project schedule progressing, despite obstacles and challenges.
We are committed to keeping the K-9 Unit’s training center open and functioning during the construction period, ensuring seamless operations for such critical community members.
