Project: Maryland Correctional Institution Service Call

Project Overview

Stormwater Facilities attended a service call to restore positive drainage on a roadway on the grounds of the Maryland Correctional Institution, Jessup (MCIJ). Water was pooling on the roadway, which required the removal of previously installed stone and filter fabric.

The service crew from Stormwater Facilities then graded the roadway area to restore proper drainage to the existing storm drain inlet. Once the area was re-graded, cold patch asphalt was installed opposite to the storm drain to further encourage water to drain into the inlet. The area near the new patches was also graded to avoid future water puddling. Excess materials were hauled away, and new soil stabilization matting was installed along with re-seeding the area.

Work Required:

  • Asphalt Patching
  • Grading
  • Soil Stabilization
  • Positive Drainage
  • Material Removal
  • Hauling
  • Seeding
